Attorney Albanese obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Florida Atlantic University in 2005, with a major in Criminology and Criminal Justice.  Achieving the highest of honors, she graduated Summa Cum Laude.  After earning her BACriminal Lawyer Lake Worth, Maria A. Albanese Degree, she spent several years working for the State Attorney’s Office in preparation for law school. Ms. Albanese went on to attend law school at Nova Southeastern University in 2009.  In her first year there, she was recruited by two professors and offered the highly sought-after position of Research Assistant.  Working as an assistant for two Law Professors, Ms. Albanese conducted extensive legal research and complex statutory interpretation.  Her work contributed to numerous legal writings and publications, including law journal articles and a legal treatise. In her third year of law school, she was selected to spend a semester working as a Certified Legal Intern (CLI) with the Office of the State Attorney.  As a CLI, she handled a criminal caseload, argued motions, appeared in court on the record, and participated in jury trials.  Based on her control of the caseload, trial skills, and overall performance during the internship, she was offered a permanent position with the Office of the State Attorney.

Ms. Albanese obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University School of Law in 2012, where she graduated with honors, Cum Laude.  Following successful completion of the BAR in 2012, she was appointed Assistant State Attorney for the 15th Judicial Circuit, Palm Beach County.  Ms. Albanese began her career as a Prosecutor in the Juvenile Division.  There she handled a large caseload of misdemeanor and felony cases, many of which included serious offenses such as felony drug charges, weapons charges, theft charges, and violent felonies.

After Juvenile, Ms. Albanese moved to the County Court Division.  There she handled a voluminous amount of criminal cases, including criminal traffic cases such as DUI and DUS, and other offenses such as assault, battery, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.  While in the County Court Division, she was soon promoted to Lead Prosecutor.  As the Lead Prosecutor of her division, in addition to her own caseload, she supervised and managed other attorneys in a division that handled more than five hundred criminal cases.

Following County Court, Ms. Albanese was promoted to the Felony Division.  As a Felony Prosecutor, she handled a large caseload which consisted of serious criminal offenses, including drug possession and trafficking, weapons charges, grand theft charges, and violent felonies.  During her time as an Assistant State Attorney, Ms. Albanese handled more than one thousand criminal cases.  She argued and litigated countless motion hearings. She handled more than thirty trials, with charges ranging from misdemeanors and DUI’s to serious felonies, such as robbery, burglary, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  As a prosecutor, Ms. Albanese gained an immeasurable amount of experience both in and out of the courtroom.

In 2015, she made the decision to pursue a career in the private sector in the area of Criminal Defense.  She launched her solo private practice in 2016.  Ms. Albanese has received numerous awards and accolades.  While attending Florida Atlantic University, she was chosen as the 2005 Recipient of FAU’s William J. Bopp Award for Excellence in Criminology and Criminal Justice. She was also elected to the National Criminal Justice Honor Society: Alpha Phi Sigma.  In law school, she received two Book Awards, one of which was for her writings and presentation for the Animal Law Legislation Seminar.  During Law School, she was also a proud member of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund: SALDF.

She is a member of the Florida Bar (2012-present); The Palm Beach County Bar Association (2016-present); The Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (2016-present); and The Palm Beach County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (2016-present).
